TAILORED CONTENT
I offer a wide range of workshops for cross-cultural communities of all types: parents, educators, TCKs, and support workers. I can also create commissioned lectures, workshops, and other presentations tailored specifically for your group. In addition, I consult with schools and other organisations to assist in creating programs and curriculum their communities need.
in person / virtual
I currently deliver the majority of my content through live interactive virtual workshops. The vibrant interactivity I offer balances privacy and participation. In the past I spent a lot of my time travelling internationally to speak at events, or work with multiple classroom groups within a school. When and where travel restrictions permit, I will resume offering these services.
TRANSLATION / 翻译
A lot of my materials are available with bilingual slide decks (English/Mandarin Chinese). I am also happy to run my interactive activities, including Q&A, in Mandarin (whether virtual or in person). I am comfortable working in/with live translation (I prefer consecutive translation, but have also worked with concurrent translation).
client feedback:
“We had sessions about transitions to new homes as well as to new life journeys, parent mornings, an evening for seniors to look at the future, fun classroom sessions, and enlightening conversations with staff and students. Tanya is well versed in the lives of expats and Third Culture Kids, and she brings a strong knowledge and personalized style to each presentation. The conversations that accompanied her presentations were strong and provided many with the opportunity to express fears and excitement about their next steps in life. Tanya was lovely to host, interesting to talk to, and recommended for schools with diverse and ever changing and moving populations.”
— Kirk Leichner, ES Librarian, International School of Tanganyika, tanzania
“Tanya met with our online students who are scattered all over the world. We have many TCKs at our school, but we also have students who have never been overseas but are still in transition because they are living through a pandemic. Tanya gave them reassurances that they were okay and their feelings were normal; she helped them set realistic expectations for themselves and gave them tips to help through transition. Students felt comfortable asking her hard questions.”
— Pam Horneck, Education Director of School Programs, NorthStar Academy
“We asked Tanya to lead a workshop to help our adult community understand some of the stages and experiences that third culture children experience. Not only was Tanya able to address these issues due to her research but even more so thanks to her own first hand exposure to many TCKs while working in China. Tanya’s presentation was reassuring to the parents who sometimes can’t understand their children because they can’t always relate to their children since they grew up in a different context.”
